Air Duct Cleaning across Toronto

Two things separate Toronto from a milder city here. The furnace runs for roughly half the year, so anything wrong with airflow costs money for six months rather than two. And houses built to Ontario standards since the 1990s are deliberately airtight with an HRV to ventilate them — a unit almost nobody has cleaned, which is why windows fog in February in houses that are otherwise fine.

Anything involving the gas appliance itself belongs with a TSSA-registered contractor, which duct cleaning is not. Ontario does not licence duct cleaning, so the checks worth making are liability insurance, a WSIB clearance certificate, and whether the technician holds NADCA certification — voluntary, but it means something.

When the work is worth booking

Heating runs from roughly October to April. Early autumn is when this work is easiest to book and when it makes the most difference. The cheaper moment is early autumn, before the peak rather than during it.
